In Applicants we have already told you about some social applications related to the world of pets, such as Zoa or Wouwi, both oriented to our little furry friends find playmates or something else. Today we pull a little more on the leash and we present PetMatch, a software where you are supposed to be the one to find the animal of your love.
The peculiarity of PetMatch is that it has been created to locate dogs and cats that serve to appease the duel for having lost a previous pet. I mean, has your best friend died recently? You miss him? The app allows you to search for another animal that is similar to the one you had, at least in appearance.
The application has a powerful algorithm that mixes location with image recognition. You simply have to upload a photo of your former pet and PetMatch will perform a search for dogs or cats that resemble it and that can be adopted in an area close to yours. The software performs an analysis of the distance between the animal’s eyes, the angle of its mouth and the shape of its face together.
PetMatch is the first B2C application of the startup Superfish, a firm based in Palo Alto and Israel that has been created with a fund of 20 million dollars. The company has been working on artificial vision since 2006 and has a technology to search for similar images in different fields. He currently works in visual search applications for jewelry and furniture, according to TechCrunch echo.
The application can be found in the App Store and is available only for devices with iOS 7.0 and higher versions.
